Aus irgendeinem Grund (Urlaub, Kater) habe ich diese Neuentwicklung letztes Jahr verpasst: Roger Linn, der uns unter anderem die Linndrum und die MPC60 brachte, hat einen Prototyp eines Multitouch und drucksensitiven Instruments entwickelt, das LinnStrument.

Linn has a new toy – the LinnStrument. It looks like an iPad, with a grid of pressure- sensitive note buttons to capture expression, and the pitch and timbre of each note, individually and all at once. The product is not yet ready for mass consumption, partly because it’s dependent on technology from TouchCo, a firm that Amazon purchased and then shut down. Linn is trying to reach Jeff Bezos to appeal for access to TouchCo technology. In the meantime, you can get a sneak peek at the LinnStrument prototype in action in our video above.

Das Haken Continuum leistet ähnliches in klassischer Keyboardansicht (für einen Wahnsinnspreis) und ein iPad 2 kann – wenn ich das Garageband Video richtig verstanden habe – auch Druck interpretieren, so dass mir etwas der Glaube an die finale Realisierung fehlt, besonders mit schwierigen Beschaffungslage der Technik.
